What is this all about - other than my still looking for a "hook"?
Get an email list they said. Send out newsletters they said. I heard, however, “Be a gigantic pain in the neck”.
Welcome to my newsletter and HAPPY NEW YEAR! Thank you so much for signing up and allowing me this indulgence. I feel like I’m flailing most of the time because I have no idea how this works. I suddenly have a new respect for anyone in sales and marketing. How do you create a connection with people?
The last thing I want to do is become a snore fest. So, I have a couple of ideas. First, I’m in a quandary. Stay with me:
I’m learning as I go – trial and error – the perpetual learning curve. Pain is growth!
Choosing what options and direction to take is hard. There’s so much information ALL OVER THE PLACE! Then I forget where I’ve seen something interesting and spin looking for it again.
I try one thing at a time – NOPE – another – NOPE – mayyyyybeeee – OK! I’ll give this a shot, but first I have to research it to death watching YouTube videos. Then I end up on Instagram Video. Then I check Facebook and get sucked into Reels. Good times.
The number one book marketing tool, per every article I’ve read, is an email list. That requires driving you, my pretties, to my website to subscribe. That also means I must find a way to keep traffic moving in that direction. At least gas prices aren’t an issue here.
So, I found Substack - where this newsletter is created and housed. This blog right here stores a copy. It’s mainly a platform for writers with a “hands-off approach to censorship”. Sounded good to me since I’m building an audience and marketing “My Prosthetic Life, A Memoir”. BUT I don’t want to just talk about that...I want to have some fun and gather your fun facts, ideas and talk about whatever strikes us at the moment. They call it “engagement”. I know it’s not like me to be a “seat of the pants” kinda girl, but I am learning to let go, embrace change and grow. You know, like my book says!
What can I expect you ask?
I commit to only bothering you with one newsletter per week – Monday mornings at 8:00 a.m.

So come with me, please. Let’s have some fun!
And thanks for letting me share. It’s public so you can share too! In fact, I’d really appreciate it.
I’m ready for the journey
